"Fröknarna Salomon”, oil on canvas, copy after Anders Zorn, signed Jerry Jonstone and dated 1918.

In 1888, Anders and Emma Zorn settled in Paris. It was the year before the great world exhibition was to take place, for which Zorn wanted to prepare on site. In Paris, a number of commissions for portraits of members of some wealthy French families also awaited him, commissions that could be important for his future career. In this watercolor we meet the two sisters Jeanne and Antoinette Salomon, busy with their toilette. The watercolor is one of Zorn's very largest, and one of his most Japanese-influenced. In connection with a memorial exhibition about the artist in 1924, it was acquired by Emma Zorn. The pictured sister Jeanne, who at the time lived as a war widow in France, was murdered a couple of decades later by the Nazis.
